Welcome to Leeds University Union Women’s Hockey Club’s website, the home of the largest university hockey club in the country. With 8 teams playing in both the BUCS and Yorkshire Leagues we cater for anyone, whether you have never picked up a stick before to playing hockey for your country, we want you!!
We have over 200 members from different years, degrees and backgrounds all playing matches each Wednesday and Saturday. LUUWHC prides itself on our high quality coaching, training, welcoming nature and overall high team results.
The hushed, sacred words that are ‘Wednesday Nights’ are the buzz words which speak a thousand words to all university students, whether you be in a sports club or not. We also have team socials within each squad that can vary from local curry nights to lazerquest. Further to this, there are Saturday socials, general university events to go to and occasions to support the men’s hockey team who we work closely with throughout the year. We’ve built a positive social and professional relationship with LUUMHC over the years and maintain this with joint events and support.
We are incredibly proud of our charity work and in the last 4 years have raised over £47,000 for charity. We achieved the position of BUCS National Club of the Year in 2014 not just because of our sporting abilities, but because of the fantastic work that every member of our club has done for our community.
We are a club with high standards, a tight inner network and a positive, friendly and sociable appearance.
We are here to not only make our members time at university memorable, but to also make a difference in the local community and on campus.
