Welcome to Leeds University Union Women’s Hockey Club’s website, the home of the largest university hockey club in the country. With 8 teams playing in BUCS, Yorkshire League and North League we cater for everyone, whether you have never picked up a stick before to playing hockey at national level!
The University 1st XI merge with Leeds Hockey Club for Saturday hockey, giving the girls the chance to train and play more than ever before at an even higher level to produce some club superstars!
We have over 350 members from different years, degrees and backgrounds all playing matches each Wednesday and Saturday. LUUWHC prides itself on our high quality coaching, training, welcoming nature and overall great team results.
We love our sport and Wednesdays are of course for the girls but we are so much more than just a hockey club. We have socials every Wednesday night for our members to celebrate or commiserate the results of the day, charity events such as our Challenge for Champions, Race Night and Karaoke Night and lots of team bonding during the year – anyone fancy a Nan’s?
Every year we aim to raise over £10,000 for our chosen charities, often smashing our targets through the hard work and dedication that our girls put into our fundraising events. We achieved the position of BUCS National Club of the Year in 2014 not just because of our sporting abilities, but because of the fantastic work that every member of our club has done for our community. Over the last two years, countless members of our club have won Club Colours and Full Colours at the Leeds Sport Colours Awards and we have also had two White Rose Award winners!
We really are a club for everyone, from socials to community outreach to helping you with your studies, and we’re here to make your university experience the best that it can possibly be!
